37 South Films is a film and television production house, that provides a fantastic environment for creative and experienced people to produce corporate films, training films and commercials.
Back in 1987, Colin Bell's reputation as a well respected Director of Photography was already established. To service his growing list of clients, he founded 37 South Films.
Colin understood the need to provide his clients with more than his own skills. This led to adding pre and post production services, to be able to take projects through from creative conception to broadcast.
Helen Bitmead, with a history of post production and production supervising, joined 37 South Films to manage and expand the production side of the business, which was rapidly gaining momentum. Helen and Colin recognised the growing demand for their services by developing the current 37 South Films South Melbourne facility. This facility now has two digital edit suites for work in both high definition and standard formats, plus a comprehensive range of support technology including Digital Betacam, Pro 50, Pro 25, and DV Cam tape machines.
Supported by a team of in-house and freelance editors, directors and production people, 37 South Films has the capacity and skill to cater for the production needs of both domestic and international clients. This ranges from full service, brief to completion projects or hiring edit suites for those whose needs are purely post production.
37 South Films has the technical and creative expertise to make every project a success - on time, on budget and always on brief.
As Head of Creative Services and Co-Principal of 37 South Films, Colin’s success has been driven by a technical and creative passion for the film medium, and has been the recipient of two Gold Awards from the Australian Cinematographers' Society for recent work.
Colin has over 30 years experience in television and film production, since beginning his career in 1977 with the Channel 9 network. Colin now heads 37 South Film’s creative services and possesses extensive experience in lighting, technical directing, cinematography and directing.
This combined knowledge has been at the core of 37 South’s success and drives the organisation’s reputation as a leading producer of television commercials, corporate films and documentaries.
