It’s true! Here at 37 South Films we too have started shooting on the Canon 5D II. This is a digital SLR that now does high quality HD video as well as professional size stills. It can also be used alongside our Panasonic Broadcast HD cameras that we have been using for the last number of years. The advantages that the Canon 5D bring to our shooting is high image quality, small physical size and the fact that it looks like any other domestic camera. This allows us to travel overseas without the customs problems we have experienced with the larger cameras. It can also be mounted in difficult and challenging positions such as cars that we couldn’t do before. After 25 years of camera work it’s also the first time I’ve travelled out to shoot with the camera on the back of a motorbike, great for city shooting! The objective was to provide disability support workers with a comprehensive understanding of how best to assist and support a person with an intellectual disability in managing their dental and oral health. To achieve this we decided that the best way to engage our target audience was to speak to them ourselves. “37 South Films took the time to understand the background and scope of the project and what it was we wanted to achieve. Their diligent research and demonstrated professionalism enabled us to have trust in their creative thinking. Being able to leave the direction of the DVD in their capable hands was extremely important to us. The result was a training DVD that met all of our objectives but with a creative flare that engages the audience for the full duration of the DVD. 37 South Films were an absolute delight to work with. One of the highlights of the year so far was the opportunity we had to film in Chennai, India. Our job spec was to shoot a corporate film over four days. Something relatively straightforward to achieve here in Oz, it was an entirely different yet fascinating and challenging experience over there. We learnt that it’s best to approach projects like this with an open mind, to view it as an opportunity to learn and be rewarded with an incredible cultural exchange. Needless to say it was a hugely successful production. The crew were fabulous, if not numerous, and incredibly professional. QUESTION: How do we really engage ANZ staff about security information? ANSWER: Easy! Create a character to tell the story – “Lockey” SECRET AGENT 11426. Our endearing Agent Lockey, whilst consistently delivering the correct security message, always does so with an entertaining degree of ‘klutz’. His agent number 11426 gave the ANZ staff a minor challenge to crack the code – what do you think it is? ‘37 South did a fantastic job in creating an animated character, Agent Lockey, to portray our security messages. Lockey helps to clarify staff security responsibilities in a positive and different way.
